Milan Fashion Week Begins

Supermodel Naomi Campbell struts her stuff at the Dolce & Gabbana show as Fashion Week kicks off in Milan, Italy.

The most awaited Milan Fashion Week kicked-off with a blast on June 21 with duo Dolce & Gabbana taking a lead in exhibiting spring/summer 2009 menswear collection.

Dolce & Gabbana (D&G) collections took inspiration from oriental kimonos to don men in silk evening pyjamas for next summer.
This mesmerizing fashion extravaganza showcased the duo’s signature line with a plethora of impeccable Asian style prints of dragons and butterflies on robes and shorts in black, white, grey, sepia and ivory.
The evening jackets were marvelously teamed with trousers sporting prints that evinced ‘the relaxed lifestyle of the modern man’.
As always Dolce & Gabbana did wonder with a palette of natural colors ranging from dark blues to beige and browns for its line of formal striped suits and casual wear toped with dark-rimmed glasses.
One could also spot a religious use made of crocodile and suede for jackets and limited edition of sneakers.
Models were sighted flaunting python, crocodile, eel or patent leather sandals and slippers of assorted colors.
The informal line of D&G set to be exhibited tomorrow is also expected to spur an ambience of vivacity and freshness.
Christopher Bailey’s ‘Crumpled Classics’ collection was next in line which reflected a casual mood with crumpled shirts, jackets, coats and hats.
Following this was Versace’s no-or doubled collar jackets that used wings instead of buttons on the front of trenches. Donatella’s collection themed ‘formal attitude, informal mindset’ met with rave reviews especially since he used new fabrics such as techno taffeta, a type of nylon with a modified structure that resembles washed silk, and left out check patterns.
Ialian designer DONATELLA VERSACE has dedicated her most recent runway collection to U.S. presidential candidate BARACK OBAMA.
The 53-year-old debuted her spring-summer 2009 collection on Monday (23Jun08) during Milan Fashion Week in Italy, and she paid tribute to the Democrat on the catwalk, calling him "the man of the moment".

Versace says her new line was inspired by and created for, "A relaxed man who doesn’t need to flex muscles to show he has power."

Chatting with reporters in the cool of the garden of her private palazzo in downtown Milan at an after-show dinner party, the designer also had some fashion tips for the campaign trail. "I would get rid of the tie and jazz up the shirt," she said.

In fact, there were no ties in Donatella’s latest show, and shirts under jackets were either super easy with rolled up sleeves or replaced by a silk T-shirt.

The new Versace suit has a structured jacket softened by a double lapel or no lapel at all and slim trousers with slick techno-fabric sheen. Crazy zigzags break up the monotony of pinstripes and checks, while the pastel palette gives the collection a warm summer feel.

Back home in Los Angeles following a New York City trip filled with filming, Paris Hilton got all dolled up on Sunday night for the "My New BFF" Masquerade Ball at Kress in Hollywood.

Accompanying the socialite turned reality star were boyfriend Benji Madden, sister Nicky and parents, Kathy and Rick, all there for the filming of Paris’ upcoming cable show.

Opening up his heart about Ms Hilton, Benji Madden recently told press: "Paris is my best friend. I’ve never been so happy. Nothing worries me in life anymore. When you find that best friend, that love, all your worries kind of go away."

The Good Charlotte rocker continued: "Your work gets better and everything you do, you have someone supporting you and she’s that for me. I’ve never been supported so much. I’m a lucky guy."
