Cate Blanchett

Okay not really. But with the actress’ recent fetish over metallic, shiny, and sparkly frocks, one could not help but think she really is all set for the Christmas season already.

Attending the Australian premiere of her latest flick, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” at the Sydney Theater yesterday (December 10), the actress donned another ’sparkling’ dress, this time from Balenciaga Spring 2009 collection following her bell-shaped “Christmas tree” inspired Alexander McQueen frock she wore in the film’s L.A. premiere.

Fortunately though, I would say this look is actually better than the previous one. It’s actually less the sparkle and shine that the previous one has. Let’s just hope Cate wouldn’t stay in a place with too much light or her dress would’ve been mistaken to be a disco ball.

Britney Spears Hairstyles

Britney Spears hairstyles have evolved with her from a simple, young look to a sexy one. From the time she first appeared, her hairstyleswere a simple, young girls hairstyle. As she changed herself to appear more grownup, her hairstyle became more exotic and sexy. Her hairstyles are usually long, layered styles that compliment her face. The hairstyles Spears has modeled match many people because it is not too exotic but more simplistic beauty with layers, coloring, and different additions.

Yes that is correct, she is not a girl anymore and along with this change her hairstyles have also changed to match her growth. Spears hairstyles are a favorite of her little role models as well as older ones as well. Her hair styles are more abundant for girls with medium to long hair that can be layered. Britney’s styles also provide many girls with the girl next door look. Many girls have hair just like Britney but are not able to attain her hairstyles due to lack of care or knowledge to get there. For those people there are many resources on managing your hair and creating many of Britney hairstyles. For those that already have the look, she offers many different variations that you can for that little different look you may have wanted. As she grows into being a mom, it will be interesting how her hairstyle will change.

Battle of the Bands

Ms. Barton is smartin’ over Richie’s plan to launch a headband line. Can’t we all just get along?

Uh-oh, looks like there’s trouble a-brewin’ in celebrity fashion-line land.

Star Magazine reports that 22-year-old former O.C. actress Mischa Barton is livid over Nicole Richie’s plans to launch a collection of headbands, much like Barton did in September with her Mischa Barton for Stacey Lapidus line.

Word is that that Richie, 27, is expanding her House of Harlow 1960 fashion line to include decorative. Decorative means headbands, and Barton is none too pleased.

"Mischa is furious," an insider tells the magazine. "She feels like Nicole completely copied the idea."

Ladies, ladies, ladies; please, set aside the bickering.

You’re both young, talented and attractive. You both have a charitable streak a mile wide. And you both rock headbands pretty fiercely. (Though, in truth, you’re not exactly the first celebrities to ever sport the look.)

Can’t you kiss and make up, and combine your formidable headband talents? You could be more unstoppable than the Super Friends, King Kong and Count Chocula combined.

Trendy hair cuts 2009

Cropped bob was ruling all through 2008 with many A-listers cutting their hair shorter and setting this trend on and off the red carpet. As for the upcoming 2009, generally, the trends will remain similar with slight changes added to the overall tendency. In short, forget about bob, try something more extreme – extremely short, extremely girly, extremely sexual or extremely slick.

Miley Cyrus ’80 style

Miley Cyrus, a 16-year-old Disney starlet, has brought back the style of the 1980s in the third season of Hannah Montana.

Those tiered miniskirts, leopard prints and fingerless gloves look pretty well on the young girl and I guess they will soon become extremely popular among girls of her age because if Hanna wears something it immediately becomes a teen fashion.

According to costume designer, Dalhia Foroutan, the retro look was created mostly for Miley’s on-stage persona Hannah to wear, but hints of the ’80s have been used in most of the cast’s wardrobe.

Some of the outfits designs were taken from Madonna’s Lucky Star and Like a Virgin days. But the look that influenced the kid’s style the most was that Madonna’s careless look that people of those days remember clearly well.

Foroutan says:

I didn’t like her (Madonna) so much in the ’80s, but looking back, she was so new and different and she really influenced fashion in the ’80s. I respect her for that”.

Beyonce’s Bold Fashion Choice: “She Looked Fantastic”

Beyonce Knowles is known for her glamorous wardrobe choice, tending to glittering gowns, curve-hugging minis and elegant creations from Armani for her many red carpet events.

Which is why we did a double take when the singer turned up at the MTV Europe Awards in not one, but two dresses from notoriously edgy British designer Gareth Pugh.

Beyonce’s stylist Ty Hunter tells PEOPLE, “Gareth Pugh’s work is explosive and she had to wear it.

She thinks he is an amazing talent.” The young Brit is a master of dark, almost-goth looks with incredible architectural details. Beyonce’s performance dress, which is made of elastic bands and rows and rows of YKK zippers, first appeared on the designer’s Fall 2008 runway with matching leggings that Knowles wisely skipped.

Pugh himself tells PEOPLE, “I’m delighted she wore my dresses, she looked fantastic.” We agree, and we love that Beyonce is supporting up-and-coming young designers while trying out cool, new looks. That metallic robot glove, we’re a little less sure about

Kate Hudson and her Style at London Fashion Week

Filed under: Look of the day

Kate Hudson is seen here attending an elite fashion event at British Style Observed in an event that was auctioning off Mary McCartney’s photographs as hosted by The National Magazine Company during London Fashion Week. Mary is fashion designer extraordinaire Stella McCartney’s sister, and both are daughters of the infamous Sir Paul McCartney who also attended the event with his girlfriend Nancy Shevell.

But Kate Hudson is enough all on her own and does not require the likes of the McCartney name to land her on the Best Dressed List which is something she seems to do on a regular basis. No, Kate Hudson is a style icon in and of herself, whether she is hanging out with dear Stella, or going to the market with the main man in her life, her tyke Ryder.

This particular outfit is a perfect example of that. We saw grey very big last fall, and this year the color is still the chic color to be wearing, but Kate has taken it to a new level by wearing a dress in a metallic shade of the ‘it’ color. Metallic colors have been making a slow comeback since last summer, and you can expect to see more of them in deeper shades through the Fall and into the Winter.
